A dynamic wood study of a Tiger. Seated on its haunches pushing its front paws into the ground while the animal partially opens its mouth to emit a roar. The tail sweeps up the body terminating at the shoulder. The himotoshi is naturally formed between the paws and the wood bears a pleasing colour.
Kokei, one of a number of fine pupils of Tanaka Minko who adopted his masters style and revamped it, with extra detailing and dantier proportions. In some instances Kokei can take on some traits of the Nagoya studio, our Tiger though is firmly inspired by Minko and in our experience represents one of the finest examples of a Tiger by Kokei.
