A three case wood inro. Carved with a Fly-Catcher (Sankocho) perched on a branch of a blossoming plum tree. The interiors lacquered black and gold.

The Fly-Catcher is reputed to be Japans most beautiful bird. Its name San Ko Cho means: Three, light, Bird. Which relates to its recognisable song. The Japanese interpret the birds beautiful chant as Moon, Sun and Star (Tsuki Hi Hosi). The friend of winter, the Plum symbolises Spring, perseverance and a new beginning.
